Canvas Kids Art Experience
Each week, Canvas Kids Art Experience will offer your children an opportunity to paint in the art style of artists from around the wrold. Whether it's an Impressionistic painting in the style of Monet, the pop art world of Warhol, the abstract splashes of Jackson Pollock or the post-impressionistic swirls of Van Gogh, Canvas Kids Art Experience will introduce our students to the styles, elements and principles of art and artists. Each week, we'll present a new project in a style of art or artist and guide our students through the process of creating that painting in their unique fashion. In addition to the project, we will provide the paints, canvas, smock and instruction!

Tween Class - Ages 10 to 13
As a precursor to our teen class, we'll introduce our students to the basics of fine and popular art. Our students will sketch, paint, collage, assemble, & create with fun, extensive projects in a variety of media including conte, charcoal, graphite, color pencil, oil & chalk pastel, watercolor, inks, acrylic & more. We'll explore and open up the world of art so each student will develop their own style & creative approach with an emphasis on shading, color, perspective & composition. Human form, portraiture, animals, nature, and master artists are just some of the projects offered. All levels of ability will be challenged!

Teen Class - Ages 14 an Up
In our teen class, our students will delve deep into the elements of fine art and further study the elements and principles of art and artists. We'll focus heavily on drawing and painting, while investigating printmaking, sculpture and collage. Mixing and blending colors, working with easals, still life, landscape, art history and, if desired by our students, portfolio prep will also be part of the instruction. During the year our teens will assemble, & create extensive projects in a variety of media including conte, charcoal, graphite, color pencil, oil & chalk pastel, watercolor, inks, acrylic & more. We'll provide one on one and/or group feedback on the artwork that we create during the course of the year.

Animation - Art and Technology for Children
Using the school's Apple Computers, students will learn how to combine art and technology to make their own animations and learn the basics of computer programming. During the class, students will draw, scan and create these animations and then upload their works on the Artful Journey Website! This is the first of many new technology classes that we'll bring to the community! NOTE: This class is twelve weeks in lenght!! We will run this class 3 times during the school year. We can only accept a maximum of 6 students. Tuition listed reflects the cost of 12 weeks.

Evergreen artist Ginny Sycuro (who owns Ginny Sycuro Design Studio in Evergreen) has been teaching her nationally recognized beadmaking workshops in our community and the surrounding areas for more than 9 years. In our glass beadmaking class she'll be teaching basic techniques necessary to make beads out of Murano glass from Italy. Techniques to be covered include: safety when working with glass, applying glass to mandrel (steel rod), basic bead shapes, and design elements including; dots, lines, stringers, raking, twisting, twisty cane and color combinations. Our students will gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of making glass beads on a torch as tuaght by a master artist. *No experience necessary. Please note, we will cap the class with only 4 students.

Jewelry Making with Ginny Sycuro - 1 Day Workshops
Evergreen artist, Ginny Sycuro (who owns Ginny Sycuro Design Studio in Evergreen) has been teaching jewelry making in our community and the surrounding areas for many years. Once a month, she'll alternate between teaching earrings or necklace/bracelet making at our Evergreen studio using sterling silver and beads. In our earring classes, students will be taught how to make 3 different styles of earrings using sterling silver.
In the necklace/bracelet making classes, students will be taught how to make either 2 necklaces or a necklace and a bracelet out of sterling silver and beads.

This studio experience is designed to facilitate beginning and intermediate artists who wish to work at his or her own pace in oil, watercolor, pastel, drawing or acrylic with guidance from our highly trained staff of instructors. Students will furnish their own materials of choice. Easels, still life objects, or your own concepts and ideas can be explored.
